RADAR (Radio Detecting and Ranging)

Weather radar, also called Doppler weather radar and Meteorological radar, is a type of radar used to locate precipitation, calculate its motion, and estimate its type (rain, snow, hail etc.). Data can be analyzed to determine the structure of storms and their potential to cause severe weather. Meteorological radar is also use as an atmospheric observation tool for detecting and tracking severe weather phenomena (I.e. hurricanes) in real time.
