Storms | All Storms Are Dangerous

All storms are dangerous. They come in different shapes and sizes, packing winds from 75 to 155 mph. Damage from these winds can run from mild to totally destructive, depending on both the strength and direction of the storm. Characteristics of Atlantic storms, or those that affect the Bahama Islands, are that storms approaching the islands during August to October tend to do more damage than those approaching other times. Heavy surf often reaches island shores days ahead of a tropical storm or hurricane, causing damage to beach homes and roadways.
